Diagnose new bugs entering triage with Claude Code

Pull context from new bug tickets, investigate the attached product repository, and post the root cause and affected files back to the ticket.

Useful for
Engineering triage owners and the developers on triage rotation who do first pass bug reproduction and code investigation, plus the engineering leads who depend on scoped tickets.

Copied

On a schedule, every [schedule frequency, e.g. every 15 minutes], check [issue tracking system] for bug tickets created since the last run that are sitting in the triage state. For each ticket found, pull its full context, including the description, reproduction steps, error output, and any linked customer reports or attachments. Send that context to Claude Code by calling a Claude Code Routine over an HTTP request, passing the ticket context and the ticket identifier in the request body. The Routine launches a cloud environment with the product repository from [code repository host] attached, and Claude Code investigates on its own terms, choosing which files, recent commits, and execution paths to examine based on what the report describes and what it uncovers while reading the code. When the Routine returns its findings, post them back as a comment on the originating ticket in [issue tracking system], covering the suspected root cause, the specific files and functions involved, and what needs to change to fix it. Leave the ticket's status, priority, and assignee untouched so the triage owner keeps the final call.

Problem

Engineering teams pick up each newly reported bug in triage and manually dig through the codebase to reproduce it and work out what is actually broken. Every ticket requires someone to load the repository, trace the failure across files, and write up their findings before the work can be scoped. This first pass investigation pulls engineers off feature work and leaves tickets sitting in triage until someone has time to look.

Solution

Newly created bug tickets sitting in triage are picked up and their context is handed to a coding agent that spins up a cloud environment with the product repository attached. The agent decides which files, recent commits, and execution paths to examine based on what the report describes and what it uncovers as it reads the code, following the evidence wherever it leads. It then comments on the originating ticket with the suspected root cause, the specific files and functions involved, and what needs to change.

Impact

Bug tickets reach an engineer already carrying a code level diagnosis of what is broken and where, turning triage into a review of findings rather than an investigation from scratch.
